We are looking forward to another Ask an Expert Speaker Series with the AVE team, our members and Guest Speaker Michelle Phaneuf. This month's Speaker Series event involves an exciting Q&A Session on how to Influence People without Authority and discussing negotiating strategies, assertive communication skills, building consensus and resolving conflicts. Please join us for what is sure to be a very valuable evening!

How many times have you been asked to affect change in your team or organization when you have had no formal authority or power to make this happen? We all have influence even if we are not the team lead or the CEO. Can you be the person in the group who everyone turns to in complex situations? If these questions spoke to you then you should definitely attend our event!

Michelle Phaneuf Mini Bio

MICHELLE PHANEUF, Engineer & Chartered Mediator

Michelle Phaneuf is a business partner with Workplace Fairness West working in conjunction with the Workplace Fairness Institute. Michelle has supported many

organizations in Alberta and across Canada to foster a healthy culture based on a core value of equality of concern and respect. In 2013, The Workplace Fairness Institute launched the Workplace Fairness Ombuds Office which provides independent, informal, confidential and impartial conflict resolution services.

By leveraging strong facilitation and coaching skills, and a mediator’s toolbox of strategies and processes, Michelle can partner with you to help plan and execute programs of change in the areas of:

 Employee retention and productivity

 Culture change

 Workforce engagement

Michelle Phaneuf is a Chartered mediator and trained Ombudsman who utilizes interest based tools to bring awareness and empathy to manage difficult situations in a non-confrontational manner. Her background in engineering generates a systems-thinking approach which enables her to analyse complex situations and acquire a comprehensive perspective.

Michelle has extensive experience with public and private organizations delivering change management and conflict resolution services. She provides workplace assessments to shift cultures, facilitates teams to reach innovative solutions, and coaches individuals to gain insight and awareness when in conflict. Michelle believes that values-based collaborative dialogue in the workplace leads to innovation, engagement and productivity.

Michelle is currently a coach with the Mount Royal University and the ADR Institute of Alberta’s Conflict Resolution Programs and acts as a mentor with Women in Leadership and the APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists) Mentoring Program.
